Video Poker Advantages And Drawbacks

June 24th, 2010

Video poker is by far one of the most prevalent forms of gambling on the Internet, and countless thousands of people have been falling prey to its charms for many years now. The video poker trend shows no sign of easing up, much less of stopping, and the online gambling world is all the better for it.

Of course, it is not all wine and roses, and video poker does have a number of disadvantages over the land-based version of the game. For one thing, the face-to-face aspect that is such an important part of real live poker is practically non-existent in the online version of the game. Some sites do strive to bridge the gap by introducing features such as customizable avatars and live dealers, and while these do a lot to lend the games an air of authenticity, they still fall short off the immediate experience of a live poker game unfolding before your very eyes.

But then again, the advantages are considerable as well, with convenience, ease of use and a wider game variety being only some of the more important ones. For some people, these are enough reasons to play video poker in preference to the traditional, land-based version of the game.
